Upon the first draw of most Partagas, you will encounter an immediate characteristic of spice, however not with the Maduro No. 1. Maduro, meaning matured in Spanish, undergoes a lengthier fermentation process whereby the signature spicy attribute of the Partagas leaf ages into a smoother and refined character. You are greeted with a pleasant mix of white pepper, rich black coffee, and cocoa that slowly evolves in flavour as it is smoked. Pairing suggestions: white wines, young reds, blended scotches, or lighter beers, and bold gourmet coffee.
